How do All Foods Become Clean in Mark 7.18–19? A Proposal

Last Monday, I presented a paper at the HBU Theology Seminar on Mark 7.18–19, offering a proposal for the meaning of 'purifying all foods' (καθαρίζων πἀντα τὰ βρώματα) in Mark 7.19c. I explore the meaning of this phrase in light of the function of participles in Koine, ancient theories of anatomy, early Syriac translations, and the ritual status of excrement in ancient Judaism.
